TBR | May 2019

I am in such a reading mood for some contemporary and fantasy!  Last month I was feeling a little slumpy!  I'm hoping in May I read some amazing books!  I am feeling a little ambitious so my TBR is larger than normal.  Here are the books I plan to read:

Only a Breath Apart by Katie McGarry | Jesse is cursed and Scarlett is psychic that's really all I need to know the romance between these two sounds soo good!  Can't wait to read it!!

My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing |  We look like a normal couple. We're your neighbors, the parents of your kid's friend, the acquaintances you keep meaning to get dinner with.  We all have secrets to keeping a marriage alive.  Ours just happens to be getting away with murder.  Yes, please!!  I've heard amazing things about this one!!  I haven't read a thriller in a while and I'm totally in the mood for one.

Little Lovely Things  by Maureen Joyce Connolly | Claire Rawlings, mother of two and medical resident, will not let the troubling signs of an allergic reaction prevent her from making it in for rounds. But when Claire's symptoms overpower her while she's driving into work, her two children in tow, she must pull over. Moments later she wakes up on the floor of a gas station bathroom-her car, and her precious girls have vanished.  Another thriller that I can't wait to get to!!

Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller | As her father's chosen heir, eighteen-year-old Rasmira has trained her whole life to become a warrior and lead her village. But when her coming-of-age trial is sabotaged and she fails the test, her father banishes her to the monster-filled wilderness with an impossible quest: To win back her honor, she must kill the oppressive god who claims tribute from the villages each year—or die trying.  This one is a stand alone fantasy, which you never get.

A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses #1) by Sarah J. Maas Feyre's survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. So when she spots a deer in the forest being pursued by a wolf, she cannot resist fighting it for the flesh. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price.  This is a reread for me and I'm buddy reading it with a few people.  I've been wanting to reread this for a while now!

A Daughter's Tale by Armando Lucas Correa | An unforgettable family saga exploring a hidden piece of World War II history and the lengths a mother will go to protect her children.  I am on a blog tour for this one, excited to get to this one.

The Wrath and the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn #1) by Renee Ahdieh | One Life to One Dawn.
In a land ruled by a murderous boy-king, each dawn brings heartache to a new family. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, is a monster. Each night he takes a new bride only to have a silk cord wrapped around her throat come morning. When sixteen-year-old Shahrzad's dearest friend falls victim to Khalid, Shahrzad vows vengeance and volunteers to be his next bride. Shahrzad is determined not only to stay alive, but to end the caliph's reign of terror once and for all.  We are reading this for my bookclub on Goodreads: Coffee Break.  If you would like to join us go the the link and join the group!

A Curse So Dark and Lonely (A Curse So Dark and Lonely #1) by Brigid Kemmerer | Fall in love, break the curse.  Cursed by a powerful enchantress to repeat the autumn of his eighteenth year, Prince Rhen, the heir of Emberfall, thought he could be saved easily if a girl fell for him. But that was before he turned into a vicious beast hell-bent on destruction. Before he destroyed his castle, his family, and every last shred of hope.  This is a Beauty and the Beast Retelling and I love those retellings soo much!  I've had my eye on this one for a while and I can't wait to read it!

Always Never Yours by  Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka | Seventeen-year-old Megan Harper is about due for her next sweeping romance. It's inevitable—each of her relationships starts with the perfect guy and ends with him falling in love . . . with someone else. But instead of feeling sorry for herself, Megan focuses on pursuing her next fling, directing theater, and fulfilling her dream college's acting requirement in the smallest role possible.  This sounds like a cute romance and I'm totally here for that!

Enchantee (Enchantee #1)  by Gita Trelease | Paris in 1789 is a labyrinth of twisted streets, filled with beggars, thieves, revolutionaries and magicians.  When smallpox kills her parents, Camille Durbonne must find a way to provide for her frail, naive sister while managing her volatile brother. Relying on petty magic—la magie ordinaire—Camille painstakingly transforms scraps of metal into money to buy the food and medicine they need. But when the coins won’t hold their shape and her brother disappears with the family’s savings, Camille must pursue a richer, more dangerous mark: the glittering court of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.  The premise of this book sounds soo intriguing!  Also look at the cover sooo stunning!!  We are also reading this for my bookclub on Goodreads.

Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett | After an awkward first encounter, Birdie and Daniel are forced to work together in a Seattle hotel where a famous author leads a mysterious and secluded life.  Another cute romance that I'm in the mood for!

Are any of these books on your TBR?  Have you read any of these books?  Let me know in the comments!!

  1. McGarry's book was so good for me. It was cool, because she had a little magic going on it, but it was still classic Katie. I adored TWatD duet too. Ahdieh's writing was beautiful. Jenn Bennett can do no wrong by me, I adore her and I adored Serious Moonlight. I have been wanting to read Always Never Yours. I wish my library would get the ebook. It sounds so good.

  3. I'm itching to reread ACOTAR as well - it's been a full year since the first time. I absolutely flew through the series so I'm looking forward to reading it a bit slower this time since I already know what happens.
