My Thoughts
This book is about twenty-four teens who are drafted into a space program where the final six will be sent to Europa, Jupiter's moon to make it habitable to start a new colonization. Earth is going through major natural disasters that are destroying and putting much of the land in water. We follow two characters Leo and Naomi. Leo is from Italy and his family was killed by a tsunami that destroyed his home. Naomi is from the United States and she does not want to into the draft because she loves her family and little brother has a heart problem that she wants to be there for him.
All the twenty-four teens had high IQ's and had something specific to bring to the table to make them stand out. Leo was a fantastic swimmer and Naomi was a science prodigy. Leo really wanted to be drafted because he had nothing left to go back to and Naomi wanted to be sent home because of her brother. I really like the bond that Leo and Naomi developed throughout the book.
I really enjoyed this book! It's crazy how realistic this could possibly be in the future. Our environment being destroyed by climate change. And today we are already see more natural disasters because of climate change! I love learning more about Europa and the possibilities that we could maybe someday become habitable. I also loved reading about the different missions to get them ready to go to Europa.
I thought this was a great book and I definitely recommend it, especially if you are into science fiction.
